A pine board to Jetted Tub Tray!

Yes, this plain ole pine board was my tray for my jetted tub. You know which tray I'm talking about...the one that holds the glass of wine, that keeps your book from getting wet, etc? BSP had this pine board when we moved into the house so he sanded down the edges for me and that's how I used it. For three years. Well, I've been lovin' some of the wood projects that Ashley and Whitney from Shanty2Chic have been doing and it got me thinking about that plain ole pine board.

I did a quick jog across the parking lot over lunch to Home Depot (yeah, it's right there) and purchased some Pine trim and I splurged on some Ralph Lauren Faux Glazing. I went with Smoke. And let me tell ya, I almost didn't because the price on Ralph is heart attack expensive!
I got home from work, changed my clothes, snatched the pine board out of the tub and headed for the garage!

First I used a little bit of wood putty on a few small spots, let it dry a few minutes and sanded it down. While I waited for the putty to dry, I measured my trim, stuck it in the miter box and cut three pieces of trim. WHERE has this amazing little invention been my whole life?! (I'm now having a mini romance with the miter box. Don't tell BSP.)

I filled in any spots after I got the trim on with just a touch of the wood putty. See how lovely that trim looks? Tell me you wouldn't have a bit of a crush on the miter box after those results?

A touch of paint and it's time to dry. The next day after work I brought it in to my sewing/craft room, sanded it down and got out Ralph. Let me just say, I LOVE RALPH. It's worth every penny! I then added just a touch of jute and look...

Isn't it lovely?!
From plain ole pine board to
a beautiful jetted tub tray!

I'm thinking about stenciling something on it in the future but I am so happy with how it turned out!
My jetted tub area is really starting to look amazing and I owe it all to every crafty creature I've been spying reading up on over the last few weeks. Thanks guys! You rock!!

Now get your booty over to Kimba's and see what everyone else has come up with!

i am seriously impressed - you did a really great job on that! very fancy - maybe you should stencil in the outline of a book and bottom of a wine glass.
