From black metal and dark wicker to clean and sleek!

DIY Day @ ASPTL

You HAVE to go see all of the amazing DIY'ers who participate here! They have inspired me to take a closer look at my surroundings and imagine how I can make them more functional, fun and inspired!

SO many of you wonderful DIY'ers swear by Black spray paint so let me apologize but there are so many black "so 15 years ago" items in our home that I CRAVE a cleaner look. So, I took a stand that our 19 year left behind when she moved out and decided to try and give it a bit of makeover.

The "Before" product. (Ignore the blue floral arrangement. It's on the far wall. Oh, and I know...the kitchen table in glass and black with the "Uber" disgusting chairs really have to go but poor BSP can only take small doses of "re-do" at a time"!

The stripping of the dark wicker "in process". I took it out onto our deck as it was just a little bit messy.
Ah! Naked and ready for paint!
The finished piece! I purchased simple glass plates for 1.98 at WalMart to replace the wicker. I didn't care for the heavy finial at the top so I purchased some Permanent Botanical Hydrangea's from Michael's to finish off the top. I think I may have spent a total of $12.00 or so including paint. I love it! I can't wait to try another project!

You did a great job. Looks fab.

I had a set of shelves with woven palm. It was such a mess. As the palm got older it dropped bits & pieces all over. Taking that off was a huge improvement. Wish i had a good place for it to go, now.

Wow that is such a transformation - I love it. I have noticed that black is making a comeback. I had loads of dark furniture and we have painted most of it cream. I have two black bedside tables and they show dust really badly so black isn;t for me! LOL Thanks for your comments on my blog and believe me if you saw all my kitchen you would say it was a hovel! LOL
