That darn pole...

I'm so glad Lynette chose a goofy memory today as it sort of "gives me permission" to share one of my own. My allergies are SO BAD today which, when you are constantly sneezing and blowing your nose, concentrating on too many things at one time  is darn near impossible!
When I was a teenager, I got bit by the "boy bug" hard and early. Way too early according to everyone in my family including my grandmother, who unknown to me, shared her concern quite frequently...."Lisa likes boys way too much. I'm very worried"...Not sure how that managed to escape me back then but my Aunt Connie shared that with me a few years ago which totally surprised me! But I digress....
Every summer my younger sister Jodi and I went to Church camp in the Black Hills of South Dakota.http://cedarcanyoncamp.com/ It was the best time and we looked forward to that every year! I'm not sure but I think the summer I was 16, one particular boy really caught my eye and I wanted to impress him so bad! The camp had set up an afternoon outing to Reptile Gardens. http://www.reptilegardens.com/
These were great opportunities for the girls and guys to get to know each, mix and mingle, etc...
This particular young man and I were standing at an outside arena (can't remember why now but I'm assuming there must have been a show of some sort that we were hoping to catch) and the conversation was going great, we were laughing and joking and just getting to know each. We must have decided to grab a seat or something so I turned around and BAM! I walked directly into a pole!!! And believe me, there was NOTHING graceful or girlie about it. I just wanted to crawl under the nearest rock. I thought I would just die from embarassment!
I honestly think that has been the most embarassing moment of my life, to this day! But I am pleased to note that the young man was a true gentleman, very concerned I might have hurt myself and he was still interested in me even though I must have looked like such an idiot!
Of course today, that boy is long gone but gosh that memory still manages to make me do one of those inward "groans" and shake my head!
Now head on over to Lynette's blog http://lynnettekraft.blogspot.com/ and enjoy some other memories or perhaps even participate yourself!

I walked into a pole at WalMart one time when I was with my teenage girls. We saw someone they knew and I was turning my head to say hello, and I walked smack in to that pole! They were kind of embarrassed and so was I , but, we laugh about it now,...many years later.

It sure does make ya feel stupid though doesn't it? (((smile)))
